John Telencio holds a Master’s Degree in Sport and Recreation Administration from Temple University, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the College of New Jersey, four separate educational certificates, and graduated with a double major from his undergraduate studies. His eclectic professional resume of Sports Medicine, Educational Leadership, Administration, Character Education, and maritime social-emotional experiences will certainly enhance the mission of Embright Education!
John has provided physical therapy, orthopedic examination, and injury/illness prevention strategies while employed by Temple University Hospital, Pat Croce’s Sports Physical Therapy Clinic, Hamilton Township Board of Education, and the professional sport organizations of Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, Wildcats Soccer, and Arthur Ashe Development Program.
John’s passion for education started 33 years ago while teaching a Sports Medicine honors class for High School students in the Hamilton Township Public School District. He has since taught students ranging from kindergarteners to high school seniors in the disciplines of Health, Environmental Studies, Social Emotional Learning, Peer Leadership, and Education through Movement. John has served on many curriculum writing committees, including those for Ashe-Bollettieri Off-Court Life Skills, Health/PE Grades K-12th, Peer Mediation, and Conflict Resolution. He has supervised and conducted staff training for Middle School Multicultural and Environmental Studies, which culminates in a three-night field trip to The School of Conservation at Stokes State Forest in New Jersey. Additionally, John has coordinated and led High School Peer Leadership training for 20 years at Camp Mason, near the Delaware Water Gap in New Jersey. He co-wrote and received a National Character Education Grant from the Character Education Partnership (Character.org) and has been a professional presenter at various workshops, convocations, and symposiums. John is a U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliarist with Division 5, Flotilla 79, Barnegat Bay, and serves as the Flotilla Officer for Diversity.
John’s other personal enjoyments include bicycling in an annual, week-long, 500-mile charity “Anchor House Ride for Runaways” for which he has implemented successful fundraising strategies, playing the guitar, photography, and spending time with his wife on the Barnegat Bay aboard their vessel “If You Believe”. John conducts a social emotional learning program on his boat for abused, neglected, and homeless aging out youth entitled “A day on the bay of personal enrichment”, and continues to mentor these youth. He has also recently been certified as a Nurtured Heart Trainer, which focuses on creating relationships, emphasizing positive behavior, and transforming intense emotions into abundant “inner wealth. The approach teaches parents, caregivers, and educators to recognize and amplify positive social and emotional behavior.
